Getting Blockchain Ready : Three Conceptual Overhaul Suggestions

By Dr. Hans Maurer, New Zealand IFPS Director and chair of the Chain Information Management Committee

In my earlier comment piece entitled "Blockchain: myth or salvation?", I touched upon the need for a conceptual overhaul in the way our industry works to give Blockchain technology a chance to succeed.

We have also developed standards for product identification and for traceability. The next step in this respect is to develop standards for labelling fresh produce on a consumer level, pallet level and case level."

Members of the produce industry active within the Quebec marketplace are expected to meet certain requirements relative to language and labeling. Faced with the need to have an official translation of PLU nomenclature available for produce labeling, the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) and Quebec Produce Marketing Association (QPMA) facilitated the translation of the PLU list to meet the needs of their respective memberships. The list translates the English produce PLU list into French.
